Friargate Community Archaeology Project was formed in 2012 in advance of building work at the Quaker Meeting House in central York.

Members the the Friargate Quaker meeting and the York U3A were joined by other volunteers to demolish a 18th C wall, carry out small scale  excavations and undertake historical research.

Work ceased in August 2013 to allow building works to proceed and this is now complete.

Starting on 11th January 2015 FCAP will meet at least monthly, at Friargate Meeting House from 2-4 pm to undertake research on finds and to draw up a definitive report.

Anyone interested in helping with the  project,  is welcome to attend any of our events. On the 11th January we hope to form small working groups to finalise historical research, catalogue and analyse finds, organise the site archive etc.
