Advice and Helpful Documents

Many useful documents can by found at the following web sites:

 

Institute for Archaeologists is a professional organisation for archaeologists that contains many useful documents on standards particularly concerned with the professional practice of archaeology.

 

Council for British Archaeology. Has a lot of helpful advice and documentation including the Community Archaeology Forum, The CBA Practical Archaeology Series and CBA Factsheets.

 

English Heritage have produced an excellent set of free publications. Two examples of obvious relevence for community archaeology are are available to down load here as pdfs on Landscape Survey and Geophysics.

 

British Archaeological Jobs Resource. This excellent resource developed as a way of finding work in archaeology but now has some excellent sets of guidelines. There is also a wealth of other good reading on this site.

 

Wawickshire County Council Museums have provided an excellent Local Studies Toolkit.

 

The West Yorkshire Archaeology Advisory Service has made a number of advice documents available through the Community Archaeology Forum.

 

If you are concerned about your digital archives you will find lots of advice on line. I can recommend the Archaeology Data Service for archaeological archives and the Centre for History and New Media for historical material.
