This page lists possible sources of national and local funds, many relate directly to archaeology or local history and heritage projects, but you may also think of other environmental funds (e.g. Breathing Places run by the BBC). We should not forget other sources such as charging for talks and events such as those employed by other community groups such as the local church.
There is a lot of very useful information on funding sources on the Council for British Archaeology (CBA) website and the York Council for Voluntary Service has a number of local sources of funding listed. The Timeline meeting in April 2008 was attended by Melody Clarke from the York CVS, she is a really useful contact and is happy to read through applications for funds and offer advice. I reccomend that you contact her if you are embarking on any fund raising. You can contact Melody by phone on 01904 621133 or by email by clicking here.
If you know of a useful funding source not listed here, lets us know about it and we will let everyone know. Just email Jon Kenny.

A really helpful organisation in many ways. Many of the above funding sources come from their web site. They can also help with payroll etc. if you have a really big project that employs somebody.
