York Friends Central Adult School Trust

Contact : Tony Still

27 Barbers Drive

Copmanthorpe

York YO23 3XN

Beneficial Area : Greater York area within a ten mile radius of the city centre

Aims : To fund organisations with charitable objectives working to:

  • Provide opportunities for self-development which had not been available in childhood
  • Encompass not only basic education but to open up horizons, develop confidence and to allow people to re-examine their beliefs and ideas: what might be called ‘empowerment’
  • Develop ideas of community and concern for others and make it possible to put these into practice.

General : The size of the grant depends upon the trust’s income, the discretion of the trustees and the number of requests made to the trust. The size of the grants made varies from year to year, but is characteristically in the low to middle hundreds.

Applications : In writing to be received by the end of February of any year. There is one distribution meeting a year held annually, usually in March.

Exclusions : The trust is unable to fund individuals.

Note The first item in the list of aims looks like it could apply to community archaeology or history projects.
